A group has just completed the Active Wellbeing programme at Leisure World Colchester, and the results have been amazing.
This 12-week initiative specifically designed for healthcare professionals to refer individuals who are living with, or at risk of, long-term health conditions. The programme provides tailored support and expert guidance to help participants achieve sustainable improvements in their physical and mental wellbeing.
Over the course of the programme, participants received personalised plans, one-to-one support, and access to activities like gym sessions, water mobility, and calming yoga. Many said they felt stronger, more confident, and happier by the end of the programme. Here are some real testimonials from participants who recently graduated from the programme:
Nelson shared: “Before I joined, I was always going to the GP and physio, but nothing helped. Since starting the programme, I’ve had hydrotherapy and classes with Chrissy and Donna, my instructors, my pain has gone down, and I don’t need to visit the GP as much. I’m very happy!”
Maria said: “My journey with Active Wellbeing has been absolutely wonderful. The support from day one to graduation was fantastic. I loved the four-week review and the chance to talk about my progress. The programme is very inclusive and helped me feel better while recovering from health issues.”
Kevin proudly told us: “I’ve lost 10kg and feel much healthier. I’ve reached my goal and now I can walk longer distances, even to watch my beloved football team!”
Many others shared how the programme helped them feel better both physically and mentally. Some said they now enjoy walking, feel more confident, and have found new routines that make them feel good every day.
Cllr Martin Goss, Portfolio Holder for Waste, Neighbourhoods, and Leisure at Colchester City Council, said: “This brilliant programme is helping people from all walks of life move more and feel better. Leisure World is proud to support everyone on their health journey, and we are ready to welcome more people who want to feel stronger, happier, and healthier.”
Leisure World is proud to be working alongside an expanding network of GPs and social prescribers who are referring individuals to the Active Wellbeing Programme. This growing collaboration is helping more residents access tailored support and improve their health in a safe, welcoming environment. Organisations interested in partnering to support local wellbeing initiatives are encouraged to get in touch to explore opportunities for collaboration.
