Colchester Youth Festival returns with free activities this summer!

PUBLISHED: 30 June 2025

On 5 August, Colchester Youth Festival will be returning to Colchester offering free activities to young people.

The festival, taking place from 12pm until 4pm in various locations in the city centre, aims to encourage the younger generation to try new things, meet like-minded people and provide access to useful information and advice.

The Colchester Community Safety Partnership (CSP), a partnership of Colchester City Council, Essex Police, and many others, are excited for the second year of the Youth Festival. It’s hoped that the event will continue to engage young people in some of the great places and activities Colchester has to offer and encourage them to be part of a community whilst having fun. All activities are free and open to all to turn up and take part in on the day, making this an event not to be missed!

The following activities will be available (all 12pm until 4pm):
  • Urban Xtreme: axe throwing introduction sessions.
  • Colchester United: Premier League Kicks at Castle Park.
  • Colchester Castle: tours on a first come first serve basis, leaving at 12:30pm and 2:30pm. Sign up at the Castle reception from 10am.
  • Changing Lives (Crouch Street): 12–1pm – Free gym memberships for refugees, young carers & low-income individuals (others just £9.99). Plus, join Get Fit with Ella (1:30–2:15pm) and Boxing with Coach T (3–4pm).
  • Team Kinetix: parkour sessions at Firstsite’s premises
  • Dry Skate Project: Skateboarding at Firstsite’s premises

Cllr Jocelyn Law, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Public Protection, said: “It’s fantastic to see this initiative return for a second year, continuing to offer opportunities that inspire and support our city’s young people. Events like this can really help build a positive relationship with the young people in our city.

"We’re encouraging as many young people as possible to get involved in the wide range of free activities taking place across the city centre. A heartfelt thank you to all our partners for their ongoing commitment and energy in making it happen.”

The event will take place on 5 August in various locations across Colchester city centre. Please follow this link for more information on activities and to check when and where specific activities are taking place.
