Colchester Castle is delighted to announce the extension of the breathtaking Gaia exhibit until the 6 November, allowing more visitors to experience this awe-inspiring display.
Originally set to leave the Castle on the 15 September, Gaia, a stunning six-metre diameter artwork by renowned artist Luke Jerram, has captivated visitors all summer since it went on display on the 19 July. Due to overwhelming public interest, the exhibit will now remain on display until 31 October.
Gaia offers a unique perspective on our planet, showcasing high-resolution 120dpi imagery from NASA that beautifully highlights the Earth's intricate details. Accompanied by a surround sound composition by BAFTA award-winning composer Dan Jones, this multisensory installation immerses visitors in the beauty and complexity of our world.
Cllr Natalie Sommers, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Heritage and Public Protection said, “We’re thrilled to extend Gaia’s stay at Colchester Castle. The response from visitors has been phenomenal, and it’s fantastic that people have more time to experience this extraordinary artwork.”
The extension ensures that more visitors, including families during the October half-term holidays, can engage with Gaia and reflect on the wonders of our planet.
