Leisure World Colchester has announced the temporary closure of its flumes for urgent repair work to take place over the summer, following a routine health and safety check yesterday. While we understand this may cause some disappointment, there is still plenty of fun to be had in the Leisure Pool, with the big waves in the Crazy River, fun slides, Shipwreck Water Cannons, Castaway Spa, and, for the younger members of the family, a trip to Palm Tree Springs.
Our intention is to capitalise on the opportunity to invest in the outdoor rapids whilst this essential maintenance work is taking place, giving swimmers plenty of fun to look forward to. Work will take place to reline the internal surface of the flumes, improving the rider experience. We aim to reopen the flumes in September and bring the rapids back into use in October.
Leisure World Colchester is fully committed to providing its visitors with the best possible experience and, as such, is offering anyone who books a Leisure Pool Swim between 26 July and 31 August a free Pump Track session at Colchester Sports Park, complete with free bike and helmet hire. The Pump Track enables children to build strength and speed on two wheels and, most importantly, have fun! It’s perfect for riders looking to improve upper body strength or simply boost their bike skills! Discover more here: www.colchestersportspark.co.uk/pump-track
To take advantage of this offer for bookings made between the 26 July and 31 August, please use your unique booking reference to claim and book your free Pump Track Session online. Bike and helmet hire will be added automatically when you arrive at the Sports Park.
Cllr Martin Goss, Portfolio Holder for Waste, Neighbourhoods and Leisure, said: “We understand the timing is less than ideal, especially during the school summer holidays, however, the Leisure Pool will remain open. Our commitment to maintaining standards of safety and enjoyment for all our guests remains our number one priority. Visitors can still splash into summer and can now also head to the Sports Park for some more fun on two wheels.
“We look forward to splashing back in September after an estimated £70,500 investment in the Leisure Pool, and the outdoor rapids following in October, ready for everyone to enjoy during the October Half Term Holidays.
“We appreciate our community's patience and support whilst we undertake this work.”
